Join us on 15th October 2026 for Connected i2 Canada in Ottawa, a collaborative event bringing together the i2 community across operational, technical and leadership roles.

Hosted by i2 Group, in collaboration with Versatil, an authorized Canadian value-added partner for i2, this invite-only event will bring together practitioners, technology specialists and senior decision makers from across the region to share insights, explore best practices and discover new ways to maximize the value of their i2 deployments through expert guidance and complementary technologies.

Speaker Bio

Dr Ryan Prox (1)

Dr. Ryan Prox, O.O.M.


Dr. Prox’s LinkedIn page contains links to his most recent publications, conference keynote speaking engagements, and media interviews.

Dr. Ryan Prox is an Adjunct Professor at Simon Fraser University, specializing in police studies and intelligence tradecraft with a focus on AI and algorithmic decision-making. He leads the Crime Analytics Advisory and Development Unit at the Vancouver Police Department (VPD), where he developed Canada’s first integrated provincial analytic system and implemented the country’s initial crime forecasting system. With over 25 years in technology innovation and change management, Dr. Prox has been a Special Advisor to the International Criminal Court (ICC) and a Senior Expert for the European Union, with postings in Tbilisi, Georgia, and the West Bank, Palestine.  

He also serves as a Legal Advisor with the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), aiding transformational projects in developing countries. Dr. Prox has extensively written on the ethics, data bias, and techno-social implications of algorithmic policing, including regulatory frameworks like the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). His recent textbook, "Crime & Intelligence Analysis in Canada," explores these issues in depth. Honored as an Officer of the Order of Merit (OOM) by the Governor General of Canada in 2019, Dr. Prox also received the Police Exemplary Service Medal and previously won the IACP Webber Seavey Award for Quality in Law Enforcement and the IALEIA Award of Excellence.
