To celebrate this year's National Apprenticeship Week, we wanted to share the story of our very own apprentice, Zac Roberts, and his journey with i2 so far...
National Apprenticeship Week is an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of apprentices around the country and the positive impact they make to communities, businesses, and the wider economy.
The theme this year is “Skills for Life” which encourages everyone to consider how apprenticeships can help individuals to develop the skills and knowledge required for a rewarding career, and employers to develop a workforce with future-ready skills.
We were delighted to have Zac join i2 in November 2023 as a member of our marketing team. Below he describes in his own words how his apprenticeship journey at i2 has been so far... directed and edited by Zac himself.
Here is more from Zac on his decision to take his apprenticeship with i2:
“i2 really stood out to me as a great company to start my apprentice journey with, given they are market leaders in intelligence analysis software, and offer a service that makes an extremely positive impact on the world. Since joining i2, I’ve been given the opportunity to join an international market-leading organisation which aids criminal investigations around the globe, and I find that the sense of responsibility that comes along with that, gives me great motivation.
"I’ve already been assigned the responsibility of taking over our social channels. I’ve also been tasked with large research projects into our direct competitors and have been tasked with supporting the planning of events, most notably the upcoming Connected i2 User and Training Conference North America. These responsibilities allow me to take what I’ve been learning from my course, and apply them to the workplace.”
Michele Brown, Marketing Director, said:
“I am a big fan of apprenticeship schemes; as an employer it is a way for us to introduce individuals into different areas of the business, with the knowledge that they are also receiving expert training in their chosen vocation at no extra cost to us, as this is funded from the levy pot. It is a route to employment for many individuals that might otherwise not be successful in securing a role in their chosen career.
"For the individuals, they enjoy the balance between paid employment and learning on the job, and of course there is the potential prospect of work after the apprenticeship is completed.”
Zac is currently enrolled on a ‘Content Creation Level 3’ apprenticeship programme with The Juice Academy based in Manchester.
The Juice Academy is an industry-led apprenticeship that provides high-level training, offered by industry experts. They were recently acquired by their former partner in apprenticeships, Apprentify, who have secured an Outstanding rating in their first-ever full Ofsted inspection, placing them in the top 1.6% per cent of independent learning providers in the country.
Zac has been a fantastic addition tio the i2 team and we are proud to have given him the opportunity to gain practical skills, industry insights, and get a foothold in his chosen career.
