A review of the successful i2 User and Training Conference North America 2023 in Alexandria, VA from May 23 - 25.
Our annual i2 User and Training Conference North America took place last week in Alexandria, Virginia and what a packed two days it was! From captivating keynotes to interactive sessions and engaging presentations, the conference proved to be a successful gathering of like-minded individuals passionate about harnessing the power of i2.
The conference kicked off each day with inspiring keynote sessions. The first day opened with Jamie Caffrey (Executive Vice President, i2), Julian Midwinter (Vice President of Sales, i2) and Adam Leach (Vice President of Research & Development, i2) - who gave a well-received preview of what's coming in the summer release and some new capabilities to look out for. He was followed by our first speaker, Stephen Rodriguez (Managing Partner, One Defense), who spoke about the adoption of defense innovation.
In keeping with the conference theme, the second day's keynote was delivered by Chris Westphal, who gave some real-world examples of the different ways data is connected and the various ways analysts can establish those connections. Thank you again to Stephen and Chris for speaking at the conference and giving us their valuable time.
One conference, three tracks
One of the main attractions of the conference was the three learning, training, and tradecraft tracks designed to enhance participants' skills and knowledge of i2 technology and products, and to learn how i2 is used in real-life scenarios.
Topics included tradecraft sessions such as using i2 TextChart for sentiment analysis, and how to operationalize a Crime Harm Index approach to investigations; to streamlining social media investigations, and connecting a cloud-based intelligence repository to i2.
The training sessions - which often had standing room only - catered to users of all proficiencies. From beginner-level introductions to advanced topics, attendees had the opportunity to explore new features, learn advanced techniques, and engage in hands-on activities that showcased the full potential of i2. Ask an i2 expert
The i2 Suite proved to be a successful new addition to the conference this year with our team still running sessions after the conference closed! Open throughout the two days, it gave the opportunity for attendees to meet the i2 team and seek help with any issues or questions they had and get some valuable one-on-one time with our experts.
It also included some research activities led by our design team to give customers the opportunity to help influence the future development of i2 products. Look out for this new addition in future i2 conferences - bring your dataset and let us help you.
Networking, collaboration, and friendships
We wanted the conference to be an environment that encouraged networking and collaboration and for people to connect with their industry peers, i2 experts, and attendees from the 80+ organizations represented.
It was really satisfying to see the conversations flowing naturally during coffee breaks, lunches, and the dedicated networking events. The Casino Night, sponsored by Four Inc., really brought everyone together - while also drawing out our competitive side! Congratulations to our winners on the night. If only it was real money!
Extending i2
The exhibition space was a hive of activity as our partners showcased their innovative solutions and integration capabilities with i2. The booths provided a valuable platform for partners to meet with attendees and discuss their solutions and options for enhancing their i2 environment.

This year's conference was a unique opportunity for analysts and investigators from a variety of industries to come together united by a common goal: to leverage the power of i2 to unravel complex investigations and deliver actionable intelligence.
