The i2 User and Training Conference 2024 Europe, held at the iconic QEII Conference Centre in London on September 25th and 26th, was a resounding success. In this blog, we explore the key highlights from this two-day gathering of i2 users and partners.

Our second i2 User and Training Conference exceeded all expectations! We're grateful to everyone who made it such a successful and memorable event. The positive energy, collaboration, and enthusiasm among attendees made it the best European i2 User and Training Conference yet.

Delegates from over 33 countries and 100 organizations joined us for inspiring keynotes, hands-on training, and inspiring presentations. It was incredible to see so many customers, partners, and i2 users from various sectors engaging and learning together.

The conference kicked off for early arrivals on Tuesday 24th at the Park Plaza Hotel, Westminster with a welcome networking reception, offering drinks, nibbles and a chance to meet with colleagues and register early.

Day One

The first day began with registration at the QEII Conference Centre and exhibitor booths from Brunel University, FiveCast, Saadian/PINS, ShadowDragon, Janes, and Xanalys. Attendees enjoyed coffee and pastries before diving into a day of sessions.

The morning featured the Opening Keynote from Danni Brooke and Ben Owen, familiar faces from TV's 'Hunted'. Their session on 'The Undercover World of a Digital Spy' captivated the audience as they told us about their involvement in tracking high-profile fugitives.

Following on from this was the eagerly anticipated i2 Product Roadmap presentation, where i2 representatives unveiled some exciting product advancements. You can find out more about our latest product release here.

Fabulous….rarely do I have the opportunity to attend an event so specifically relevant to my work as an intelligence analyst!

The day balanced hands-on training with expert talks, including Op Paramount, an innovative approach to supporting children of incarcerated parents, and i2’s Role in Knife Crime Prevention. The Founder of Dark Armour contributed valuable insights, and Nadia Tuominen led a thought-provoking session on self-awareness, bias correction, and peer review.

Afternoon sessions offered deep dives into specific topics, including Telegram OSINT Techniques from Cloudbreak Analysis, and tackling Piracy with presenters from Sky.

The day ended with a Networking Drinks Reception in the exhibition hall sponsored by DataExpert, which was a great opportunity for attendees time to connect and share stories.

Day 2

Day two started with Shaun Hipgrave discussing "The Threat Landscape We Face Today," followed by advanced sessions on i2’s capabilities in supporting crime investigations, including PND Data in i2 Analyst’s Notebook for County Lines Crime and Accelerating Investigations with Social Media Data.

Nadia Tuominen's inference development session sparked lively discussions and was very well-received. Afternoon highlights included Data Visualization Techniques from Donna Jallits and Magnus Andersson, offering fresh perspectives on presenting complex information.

Michelle Rasch from Data Expert provided an update on last year's e-pimp profile analysis, offering critical insights into combating digital sexual exploitation.

Hands-on i2 training

A major focus of the conference was providing i2 users of all skill levels with additional hands-on training. From beginner introductions to advanced topics, attendees explored features in both i2 Analyst’s Notebook and i2 iBase, gaining new techniques through structured activities that highlighted i2’s full potential.

The hands-on workshops were excellent and were great for any level of understanding.

The i2 Suite was back for 2024!

Located in the exhibition hall, the i2 Suite was a bustling hub of activity, where attendees could interact with the i2 team, get help, and enjoy one-on-one time with experts. The suite also hosted research activities, enabling attendees to share feedback and help shape the future of i2 products.

Networking and meeting people was really effective, especially the contacts made with the i2 staff members.

The conference’s focus on innovation, real-world applications, and cross-disciplinary collaboration made it a hit with attendees, leaving participants with enhanced skills, strategies, and a solid network to tackle future challenges in their respective fields.

Thanks to all of our speakers, sponsors, and exhibitors for making this event such a success.
