Connected i2 Nordics 2026: Learning from the people behind intelligence

Written by Admin | Oct 19, 2026, 1:47:50 PM

What happens when you bring together intelligence professionals from across the Nordics, each with different experiences, challenges and ideas?

You get two days of honest conversations, fresh perspectives and practical ideas to take back to your organisation.

That is exactly what happened at Connected i2 Nordics 2026 in Malmö, where analysts, investigators, technical specialists and intelligence leaders came together to learn from one another, explore what's next for i2 and discuss how to get more from the tools they use every day.

And while the event was packed with presentations and workshops, some of the most valuable moments came from simply talking to each other.

Real-world perspectives from across the Nordics

One of the highlights of the event was hearing directly from Asterios Almpanakis from the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF) and Magnus Andersson from the Swedish Police Authority and Lund University, who shared their experiences from the field.

Alongside discussions on defence, national security and law enforcement, their contributions gave attendees an opportunity to reflect on different investigative approaches and consider what they could apply in their own work.

Making technology work better for analysts

Customers also wanted to know what they can do with i2 today and what is coming next.

Our teams shared updates on i2's strategy, product developments and future direction, alongside practical discussions about Analyst's Notebook, iBase, connectors, integration and training.

Attendees were particularly interested in seeing how i2 works in different operational environments and how it integrates with existing systems. One attendee shared:

"I found it useful to connect with other users. I also learned a lot about the practical use of connectors."

What stood out was the appetite for practical examples, not just product updates. Customers want to understand how new capabilities fit into their work and learn from people who have already used them.

AI is changing the work. Human judgement still matters.

AI was another topic that generated plenty of discussion. As organisations explore ways to manage growing volumes of information and reduce repetitive tasks, one question keeps coming up: where can AI help, and where is human expertise essential?

Our session, The Human Advantage, explored why analytical skills, critical thinking and professional judgement continue to matter as technology develops.

Through interactive exercises, participants tackled challenges ranging from planning a group holiday to deciphering the coded language of a fictitious organised crime group. These activities sparked conversations about thinking independently, managing ourselves and drawing on the perspectives of others to solve problems.

The takeaway? Technology can help us access and process information, but making sense of it still requires human judgement, collaboration and the ability to think critically.

The conversations don't end in Malmö

The post-event survey gave us plenty to reflect on, from what attendees enjoyed most to what they'd like to see more of.

The opportunity to meet peers from neighbouring countries was particularly appreciated:

"It was great to have a Nordic conference and get the chance to connect with users from nearby countries."

We also heard requests for more hands-on sessions, practical customer examples and deeper technical discussions. We will use that feedback to make future events even more useful.

It was brilliant to bring our Nordic customers together in Malmö. We had the opportunity to share our vision for the future of i2, hear their perspectives and have some really valuable conversations about where we're heading together. What made the event particularly special was seeing customers connect, exchange experiences and learn from one another. It's exactly the kind of engagement we want to build on.

These events are as much about listening as they are about sharing. Hearing directly from customers helps us understand their priorities and where we can better support them.

Thank you for being part of it

To everyone who joined us in Malmö, shared their experiences, asked questions or contributed to a session: thank you.

And a special thank you to our guest speakers, customers, partners and colleagues who helped make the event possible.

We left Malmö with new ideas, useful feedback and a renewed appreciation for the people who make this community what it is.

And perhaps our favourite piece of feedback:

"I just love the i2 community :)"

We couldn't have said it better ourselves.
